Medical Incident Technician
The Medical Incident Technician (MIT) is a provider that works within a unified command system in an austere environment and has access to communications and supporting infrastructure to manage a patient. This is still within the realm of wilderness medicine because the incidents occur far enough away from advanced medical care that field management is necessary. Medical Incident Technicians will be proficient in communications to bring in the resources needed to manage a casualty, as well as stabilizing an injured or sick patient. All variations of MIT follow the same core, switching out scenarios and simulations to more accurately prepare the providers for incidents they are likely to encounter in their jobs.
